At the Associate level, an EMCCAD certification recognizes a solid foundation in data center infrastructure, storage systems and networking technologies, backup and replication, the cloud reference model, physical and virtual layers of a cloud environment, controls, services and management, and business continuity. At the Specialist level, a professional is expected to add capacity planning and management, process automation, multi-tenant management and chargebacks to his or her skillset.
EMCCAD certifications at the Associate level are fairly evergreen, applying to different vendor environments; the Specialist cert focuses on EMC and VMware technologies:

Cloud Infrastructure Planning and Design (CIPD) – Specialist Level
EMC Education Services has launched Cloud Infrastructure Planning and Design (CIPD) – a Specialist-level course in the Cloud Architect track. The new CIPD course is aligned to E20-020 Cloud Infrastructure Specialist exam to achieve the EMCCA Version 2 credential.

(CIPD) differ from VDC Planning and Design?In the VDC Planning and
Design course, the focus was on transitioning from physical resources to
a virtual and cloud ready environment. The new course focuses on

EMCCA: EMC Cloud Architect
In September 2016, Dell . completed its acquisition of EMC. The $60 billion merger is billed by The Wall Street Journal as the "largest technology merger in history." The newly formed Dell EMC company has been branded as Dell Technologies.Candidates interested in the EMC Proven Professional Certifications will still find the same highly developed certification program, with 12 different certification tracks that offer multiple credentials. The only difference candidates will notice is the website now references Dell EMC.
Dell EMC offers associate-level certifications in cloud infrastructure and services (EMCCIS), data science (EMCDSA), information storage and management (EMCISA), backup recovery (EMCBA), and enterprise content management (EMC). Higher-level certs include the Data Center Architect (EMCDCA), Cloud Architect (EMCCA), Storage Administrator (EMCSA), and several more geared toward engineers, developers and administrators. Although EMC certifications are good for life, the company recommends updating your certifications every three years to stay current on new technology.
The EMC Cloud Architect (EMCCA) track, which is the focus of this section, includes three certifications: Associate, Specialist and Expert. All of these certifications have recommended or required training courses, the cost of which range from $600 for on-demand instructor-led streaming to $5,000 for instructor-led in-classroom delivery. Exam vouchers are included in the training cost. Candidates who are currently active military, veterans or family members are eligible for reimbursement for exam fees.
Other cloud certifications from EMC include those in the Cloud Engineer (EMCEE) track, which has Associate and Specialist levels; however, you must be an EMC partner to achieve these certifications.

Virtualization Certification: What Options are Available?
I mentioned in another post that there is a big push for the current VMware VCP4’s to prepare to take the VCP5 exam by the end of February when the grace period for not having to take a class is over. I did leave out one other great resource that is worth mentioning. Cody Bunch hosts the BrownBags on Wednesday nights. The sessions have been focusing on the VCP5 exam blueprint and this week’s guest was Jason Boche (VCDX #34) and he did a great job, as always, presenting the information on virtual machines and giving the rest of us extreme home lab envy. After the VCP roadmap is the finished the BrownBags will continue with the VCAP blueprint with the idea of working for the VCDX. If you are interested in another way to study and learn from some well established people in the industry sign up and check things out.Virtualization Certification, It used to be just VMware and the VCP, but things have changed as other players get involved and I thought it would be interesting to see what virtualization certification options there are out there.

I would love to see to other companies consider following Cisco’s example in that they require another venders certification as a prerequisites (VMware VCP). I fully understand why Cisco does this since all the UCS training is based on using VMware ESXi server running on the UCS blades. With Cisco’s partnership with VMware, I would not expect to see the UCS training running Hyper-V anytime soon but then again you never know. I am not sure that prerequisites would work for the other certification like it does for Cisco, but that is an interesting thought. I am willing to bet that VMware is currently working on other new exams and I would expect to see a Cloud track added to the DataCenter and Desktop options. But hey I am just speculating.
